But the Bugatti EB 16.4 Veyron, Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and Bentley Continental GT MDS are all made by subsidiaries of the company that makes the Golf, Jetta and New Beetle.

The list also includes a Chevy. The $65,800 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was named "Best Bang for the Buck" by the magazine. With a 505-horsepower engine and a zero-to-60 time under four seconds, its performance numbers match those of cars costing several times its price.

While the Corvette is the cheapest car on the list, the Bugatti Veyron is the most expensive by a similarly wide margin. It costs $1.2 million. For that, buyers will get a 1,001 horsepower car with a potential zero-to-60 time of 2.4 seconds. The transmission is a version of the two-clutched automatic transmission used in the Audi TT.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder "looks cooler than its coupe sibling," the magazine said. It costs about $180,000 and has a top speed of 195 miles per hour.

The Bentley Continental GT MDS offers 23-inch wheels and a two-tone quilted leather interior for $173,490. Among the car's famous owners is Paris Hilton, something the magazine notes as a downside.

The BMW M6, a souped-up version of the 6-series coupe, has a 5-liter V-10 engine. The magazine calls it a "Formula 1 race car with seating for four." It has an estimated sticker price of $100,000.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom, made by BMW's ultra-high-end British subsidiary, includes such posh touches as an umbrella that dispenses from inside the door. It sells for about $330,000.

BMW 5 and 6 series

BMW making disposable cars?

A reader sent us a link to an LA Times article letting us in on a very interesting predicament. BMW's rules for front-end body repair are so stringent that insurers don't quite know what to do with the poor cars when they incur damage to the front ends — and insurers subsequently junk the cars.

Evidently, the front-end construction of the BMW 5 and 6 series are so advanced that the building methods have more in common with those of airplanes than with other cars. This makes the vehicle very difficult and costly to repair. Additionally, only collision repair specialists who work at BMW dealerships are certified to repair the damage. These facts lead some critics to accuse automakers of building "throwaway cars," or vehicles that hit the junkyard at a much younger age than past models, prompting folks to revisit their dealerships more often than ever before.

Volvo, a division of Ford Motor Co

Volvo extends warranty on stalling cars

Volvo, a division of Ford Motor Co., has 'quietly' agreed to extend the warranty of defective throttles on 356,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. The throttle can become corroded and force the car to stall or slow down. The warranty will be bumped to 200,000 miles or 10 years. The current warranty protection covers seven years or 70,000 miles. As part of the agreement, Volvo would also reimburse owners who already had the defective throttles replaced. The cost to replace the throttle can reach up to $1000.

So far this has not turned into a recall situation. If the lawyers suing Volvo have anything to do with it, Volvo may end up replacing the throttles through a recall, which Volvo may end up doing anyways as a matter of course. A Volvo spokesman said up to 94 percent of the throttles could fail before 100,000 miles. Thus far, Volvo has spent $12.5 million on repairing and replacing defective throttles.

BMW PARTS - BMW X3 Parts

BMW X3 Parts
BMW would call it a Sport Activity Vehicle (SAV) although the vehicle is essentially a crossover sport/utility vehicle (SUV) or XUV. But does the name make the BMW X3 something special? What does the BMW X3 have to offer that is not yet present in most conventional SUVs that we have today? And what more can the vehicle do than what BMW sedans and station wagons already do?

The BMW X3 is a Sport Activity Vehicle, the second vehicle of its kind manufactured by BMW after receiving enormous praises and success with the BMW X5. Introduced in 2004, the X3 is basically an offshoot of the BMW X5, although the X3 is a bit larger, lighter, has more interior and cargo space, and offers a whole new range of innovative features that were not available on previous models of the BMW X5 (although most of the features of the new X3 are also available in the new X5). Currently, the vehicle is available with two engine options: a 2.5-liter 195 hp I6 and a 3.0-liter 231 hp I6. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on both options while a 5-speed automatic transmission is optional.

With all the new and innovative BMW X3 parts and features it is equipped with, the new BMW X3 SAV is capable of doing some things that most other vehicle types can't do. The vehicle's xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system allows the vehicle to perform capably on the road and off the road, something that most conventional SUVs, sedans and station wagons can't do. Other features that aid the BMW X3 in its functions are the dynamic stability control (DSC) and the Hill Descent Control (HDC) features.

With on-road and off-road capabilities, is there anything more that you can ask for with the BMW X3? Well, probably more of the said capabilities. While it is true that the vehicle can cruise on the road and traverse the off-road track, its performance on either path is acceptable at the most. There are definitely a lot of areas to improve on, especially if BMW want the vehicle to perform like a competitive SUV off the road and a smooth cruising sedan or station wagon on the road.

BMW 325i Part
BMW 525 Parts
BMW A/C Condensers
BMW Altezza Tail lights
BMW Body Parts
BMW Bumper
BMW Carpet
BMW Catalytic Converters
BMW Clear Corner
BMW Corner Lights
BMW Door Handles
BMW E30 Parts
BMW E36 Part
BMW Exhaust Manifold
BMW Fender
BMW Floor Mats
BMW Fog Lights
BMW Fuel Tank
BMW Gas Tanks
BMW Grille
BMW Headlights
BMW Hoods
BMW Hubcaps
BMW M3 Part
BMW M5 Part
BMW Mirror
BMW Radiator
BMW Rim
BMW Spoiler
BMW Tail lights
BMW Tailgate
BMW Weatherstripping
BMW Wheels
BMW Window Regulators
BMW Windshields
BMW X5 Part
BMW Z3 Part
BMW Z4 Part
BMW Z8 Parts

Ford Puts Up More Money to Aid Jaguar

The Ford Motor Company has invested £1.2 billion ($2.1 billion) in its unprofitable Jaguar unit to help pay for a reorganization at the luxury-car division.

A Jaguar spokesman, Don Hume, said yesterday that Ford provided the money by buying preferred shares in the unit. He declined to say how the investment would be used. The amount almost matches the $2.5 billion that Ford paid for Jaguar in 1989.

Jaguar, based in Coventry, England, posted a pretax loss of £430 million last year, and Mr. Hume said that business conditions at Jaguar have worsened in 2005.

Jaguar ended manufacturing at a British plant last year, laid off 1,150 workers and scrapped a plan to build 200,000 vehicles. Ford, which in the third quarter reported its first net loss in almost two years, does not have a target date for Jaguar to break even.

"Ford needs Jaguar as a global luxury brand," said Jim Hall, an analyst at the consulting firm AutoPacific in Southfield, Mich. "Volvo really isn't it," he said, referring to the automaker's Sweden-based unit that focuses its marketing on safety features.

Jaguar, which made 126,000 cars in 2003, expects to build 85,000 this year and may cut production to 80,000 next year, according to CSM Worldwide, a Detroit-based market researcher.

Ford is also preparing a North American cost-reduction plan including plant closings, amid declining sales of sport utility vehicles in the United States.

Ford has dropped a target for its Premier Automotive Group of luxury European car brands to contribute a third of automotive profit by 2006. Premier includes Jaguar, Land Rover, Aston Martin and Volvo.

The recapitalization at Jaguar was approved by Ford at the end of 2004 and put in place this month, Mr. Hume said. Jaguar this week started production of the aluminum-body XK car, which will go on sale in March.

Jaguar sales in the United States, the brand's largest market, fell 34 percent through November from a year earlier. Sales of the $30,000 X-Type, once promised to be the driver of expanding sales, declined 49 percent in the same period.

BEST OF THE SUPERCARS

Ferma, the official distributor of Ferrari in Thailand, has done a wonderful job compared to its previous management. However, analysts and pundits alike are going for 690,000 units this year. The stimulants for growth are pickups, pickup-based SUVs and small passenger cars.

The premium passenger car segment contracted a bit owing to higher oil prices and customers shying away from gas-guzzlers.

The Toyota Fortuner SUV based on the Hilux Vigo pickup allowed the brand to create an unprecedented phenomenon with 80% market share of the SUV segment and possibly 40,000 units for the whole year.

All in all, the 625,556 units sold from January to November represents a continuous growth trend since the economic downtrend in 1997.

Alternative fuel

Alternative fuels have assumed prominence because of soaring oil prices and the sudden realisation that fossil fuels may only last for another 40 years or so.

Fuel cell technology might be too early for now, while the hybrid engine is still a tad too expensive to become a mass-market product in Thailand.

Gasohol seems to be the appropriate alternative fuel for the time being. Gasohol, or E10, is gasoline mixed with ethanol making it cheaper than premium 95 by 1.50 baht.

However, local ethanol production cannot meet demand which is why it has to be imported. The failure to convince motorists about E10 is why Ford suffered as the government deferred is decision to lower excise tax from 30% to 20% for E10-capable engines.

Natural gas vehicle (NGV) technology is also being promoted as an alternative fuel, while bio-diesel also made the headlines for a while.

More world premieres in Thailand

Thailand has become the production base for one-ton pickups which is why there were two world premieres: the Mitsubishi Triton in 3.2- and 2.5-litre common-rail diesel forms and most recently, the Ford 4-Trac concept pointing to the new Ranger due next year.

Thailand is expected to host world debuts of the Ranger and Mazda Fighter in production forms at the Bangkok Motor Show next March.

Used and New Cars For Sale - Sell your car

Auto Classifieds Online - Search for used cars, trucks, SUVs, and mini vans from dealers & car private owner - Used and New Cars For Sale - Sell your car

We hope you find this web site valuable.
